Crafting large-scale sculptures begins with shaping high-quality clay. Our process embraces the clay’s unpredictable nature, creating forms that balance fragility with strength—post-sculpting, the pieces air-dry over several months in our specialized studio, ensuring stability.
Our team then prepares one of the Midwest’s largest wood kilns, carefully loading the sculptures. We merge physical strength with careful handling, using cranes and lifts. The firing phase, a marathon of four to five days, involves the unyielding feeding of wood into the kiln, maintaining extreme temperatures above 2100 degrees. Our devoted team works relentlessly, controlling the wild flames.
After firing, the sculptures cool in the kiln for about a week, emerging hardened and ready to weather the elements. The resulting pieces blend ancient and modern, resilient creations, symbolizing their potential to transcend time.
