DISPEL operates within Alex Demetriou’s privately owned ceramics facility producing wood fired ceramic sculpture on a scale rarely seen. This space features a 265 cubic ft hybrid gas/wood kiln designed and constructed by master kiln builder Justin Lambert. With kilns large enough to fire 6 ½’ sculpture and the capability to assemble multi-tier work, this facility has produced monolithic sculpture up to 12’ in height. DISPEL is designed to push the boundaries of the ceramic medium and foster the exploration of building techniques necessary for creating large-scale work.
